"Have you ever seen the stars so close?” Astra says in a weird, dreamy voice. “They look as though they're about to drop to the earth.”
Felix looks out the window, unimpressed.
“Those are satellite and the Intergalactic Station Departments,” he tells her. “The stars haven't been visible from Earth in decades.”
“Oh they have been,” she says. “If you know where to look. When you see a formation that's irregular, a star that doesn't look ordinary- that's a real star and no satellite.”
He sighs. No Ordinary Star. What does that even mean?

Wow wow triple wow! I finished this book and I'm speechless I really don't know what I was expecting but I LOVE it.

No Ordinary Star by Author M.C Frank was my first YA Sci-Fi book and what a way to introduce me to this genre. This author's writing was so unique and captivating that it kept me glued to my tablet.

Although I enjoyed reading this book at the beginning the writing was a little hard for me to get used to, but once I started putting the pieces together, the read went by fast. This book is (view spoiler) but we do see a deep connection with both characters.

This book is built on the year 2524 where Love doesn't exist, where beauty isn't discussed, where men are superior to the other gender, where women's purpose is only for fertility , where Christmas and joy doesn't exist. Phew! That got your attention? I know to me it did. It makes you think about the future... about their future. This book is written in the third person but it will show us Felix and Astra's POV as well. The writing is well thought so you can imagine the description the author paints in your head.

Felix the “Tin Soldier” is loyal to only one man the Clockmaster. He has one mission, to finished building the clock which every year the Clockmaster would build. He has 10 days because in 10 days it will be the year 2525 if he doesn't conclude it could be dangerous for everyone!
Ohh! A little mysterious, I love it.

“Constantine.” He whispers, and a lone tear freezes on his cheek. “Twenty- five, twenty-five. Felix, my hope.”

Astra “Match Girl” is a spitfire I love her personality, she's 16 years old which two of those years she spent it in the box “jail” for a crime she didn't commit, there wasn't even a crime. I admired Astra because she went through a lot in that place but she still manages to keep going. Getting out of the box
she learns how to survive without the pills. She's the one that keeps and shows Felix how to survive in the Arctic without it.

Now let's talk about the “pills” they're their only meal as well as their only medication. The pills make your heart and head slow down so you eventually live more years. And this pill will make you emotionless so Felix experiences many withdrawals after he doesn't take it. This becomes an emotional ride for him.

“That's not food, that's poison.”

Overall I enjoyed reading this book, it made my imagination run wild. The authors writing had me hooked and I can honestly tell you I'm a fan of her work. If you haven't read any ya sci-fi or you're a lover of the genre I recommend you to read this book.
Changing from tin soldier to a human being, will Felix conclude what's been expected of him? Is Astra going to help him in his mission? So many questions I need the answers too.
The world where equal rights are not provided, where the beauty of Christmas doesn't exist, love is not enjoyed, lies and more lies would be revealed, are you ready to go in this cold cold read?

Finally, Astra licks her lips. “What's brothers'?” She asks.
“What's a spoon?” Felix asks back
